CofC Day Challenges
Honors College Deans Excellence Fund Challenge
Support for the Honors College Dean’s Excellence Fund has an immediate and direct impact on our students and allows us to continue to offer the type of personalized college experience that is so essential to their growth. Among other
things, the Dean’s Excellence Fund allows us to recruit the newest class of exemplary Honors students, to support students in their experiential learning endeavors, and to provide specialized mentorship for all Honors students. Because of
how significant this fund is to the success of the Honors College, Beth Meyer-Bernstein, Dean of the Honors College, Neil Draisin ’65, and Dr. David and Martie Adams, have pledged to match donations made to the Dean’s Excellence Fund up to
$4,200! Join them in making an impact in the future trajectory of the College’s Honors students.
Friends of the Library Challenge
As a Friend of the Library, your support ensures the College Libraries are the heart of campus and the hub for discovery for our CofC community. Your support impacts every student and faculty member, providing access to resources and
services across our college, city, and region.
With your gift to the Friends, you qualify for an annual membership with borrowing privileges and on-site access to digital resources, publications, and recognition as a College of Charleston Foundation donor. Friends of the Library
memberships at the $500 level and above are entitled to two complimentary tickets to the Friends' signature event, the Winthrop Roundtable.
From experimenting with technology for coursework to conducting scholarly research or simply chasing their curiosity, students and faculty turn to the Libraries now more than ever. To support the Libraries' critical role for every member of
our community, the Friends of the Library Board is proud to pledge $7,000 in matching funds for gifts to our fund on CofC Day--for every dollar you donate, the Board will match, up to $9,000. Double your impact today with a gift to the
Friends of the Library fund.
The John Newell Endowed Honors Scholarship Match
The John Newell Endowed Honors Scholarship was established in 2012 in tribute to founding Honors College dean John Newell. A medieval European scholar, Dr. Newell joined the College’s history department in 1978 and also served as the dean
of the Honors College from 2005 until his retirement in 2012. The Newell Scholarship is awarded on the basis of merit to select South Carolina students admitted to the Honors College. Special consideration is given to students interested in
the study of a humanities discipline. Dr. Newell has pledged to match up to $2,000 donated to this fund on CofC Day.
Alumni Donor Challenge
Real Estate Program Challenge
An anonymous donor will contribute $40,000 to the Carter Real Estate Center, once 20 donations have been made to support the Center. As one of the fastest-growing majors in the School of Business, the Center is focused on the synergy of
teaching, research, and service by bringing together students, faculty, and industry to better understand the complexities of real estate assets and providing practical solutions for the issues facing the industry today. Internships,
research projects, and independent studies are an important part of the student experience.
School of Education, Health, and Human Performance Dean's Excellence Fund Challenge
In honor of CofC Day, an anonymous donor has challenged our School of Education, Health, and Human Performance family of alumni, parents, and friends to secure 20 donors to make a gift to the Dean's Excellence Fund! Once 20 donors have
been obtained, this will unlock $10,000 in support of the School of Education, Health, and Human Performance by our anonymous donors! A gift to the Dean's Excellence Fund ensures our students have the financial aid they need, our faculty
have the support required, and we have the facilities to support the transformational learning and research both deserve.
Women's Basketball Challenge
An anonymous donor who is a steadfast annual supporter of College of Charleston Women’s Basketball, has recently made a legacy gift to support the team. This donor is challenging others to make a current and/or future legacy gift on CofC
Day to support and sustain the women’s basketball team. Your gift will aid in funding team expenses, such as travel opportunities, equipment, and more. Please help us reach our goal of attaining 14 donors – a donation in honor of each team
player! Go Cougars!
School of Education, Health, and Human Performance General Scholarship Fund Challenge
In honor of CofC Day, Mrs. Wendy Wellin, School of Education, Health, and Human Performance Development Council member has challenged our School of Education, Health, and Human Performance family of alumni, parents, and friends to secure
25 gifts to support the School of Education, Health, and Human Performance Scholarship Fund. Mrs. Wellin has pledged to donate $25,000 once 25 gifts have been secured! Your gift will help provide immediate-use merit and need-based
scholarships and awards. Scholarships help recruit and retain motivated and talented students to the School. Now more than ever, we need to support our future teachers and healthcare professionals.
Hispanic Studies Challenge
Double the impact of your support to our Hispanic Studies Fund! A group of generous donors on our Hispanic Studies Advisory Board has challenged us to raise $15,000 for the Hispanic Studies Fund on CofC Day. Once we reach that goal, they
will make an additional $15,000 gift. Your generosity will support programming and scholarships for students in the Department.
Teacher Leaders Program Anonymous Match
In honor of CofC Day, an anonymous and loyal donor has challenged our School of Education, Health, and Human Performance family of alumni, parents, and friends to raise $6,5000 to support the Teacher Leader Program. This donor has pledged
to match dollar-for-dollar up to $6,500 - doubling your impact! Your gift will help support the program with travel costs associated with retreats and trips, books focused on educational issues and opportunities, and meeting expenses.
Crossing the Finish Line
Help us cross the finish line!
"After 20 years of the track and field program at The College, we are excited to announce that our dream of having a track is becoming a reality. We have partnered with the Town of Mt. Pleasant on the Town Hall track facility project which should be completed the first of the year! Our thoughts are with all the Cougars who have ever been a part of our program - this accomplishment belongs to each of you!” – Coach Amy Seago
As the completion of the track and field project nears, gifts are needed to complete the facility with the equipment necessary for practice and training. Give today and double your impact! An anonymous donor is matching gifts dollar for dollar up to $2,500.
