CofC Day Events

January 30th is the College's 250th birthday, which means it's time to celebrate! Throughout the day there are various events happening across campus and the country. Share with us on social media where you'll be celebrating with the hashtags #CofCDAY and #CofC250.

Campus Events

All campus events are free and open to the public. We hope you'll join us in the celebration!

9:00 - 10:00 am: CofC Day Breakfast with President Hsu, Cougar Mall

  • Come out to Cougar Mall to kick-start the day with a free breakfast hosted by President Hsu.

10:00 am - 8:00 pm: CofC Day Headquarters, Cistern Yard

  • Stop by our headquarters throughout the day for swag, games, food, and fun!

3:45 pm - 8:00 pm: CofC Day Celebration and Block Party, Cistern Yard and George Street

  • Join us for a birthday celebration in honor of the College's founding on January 30, 1770. This event includes an unveiling of a South Carolina historical marker, a special announcement from President Hsu, a block party with food and festivities, and live entertainment from performer AFISHAL.

Please note that this event will follow the College of Charleston clear bag policy, which is intended to expedite entry and provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. 

Only the following four types of bags will be allowed into the event—

    • Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″. A logo no larger than 4.5″ x 3.4″ can be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag.
    • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
    • Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ – approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap
    • Medically necessary items (after proper inspection)
